The line covers around 120 miles and winds through places that feel quietly untouched by time. You pass tiny stations, sheep-filled fields, wooded valleys, stone bridges and rolling hills, often without seeing a major road for miles.

Knighton Station: A Small Station with a Big Welcome
Knighton railway station, sits right on the Heart of Wales Line and is the closest station to Quabbs Cabin.
Small, friendly and easy to navigate, the station is in the centre of town and just a short distance from shops, pubs, cafes and local walks.
The station itself reflects Knighton perfectly. It is not grand or flashy. It is practical, welcoming and surrounded by countryside with Kinsley Wood rising from behind the station.
There is also something wonderfully old-fashioned about it. Knighton Station feels like the sort of place where train travel is still simple, calm and charming. It is clean, well kept and cared for, with a quiet atmosphere that suits the town perfectly.
For guests arriving without a car, Knighton Station makes it surprisingly easy to reach this quieter corner of Wales.
You can arrive by train from places such as Shrewsbury, Swansea, Llandrindod Wells, Llanelli as well as the smaller surrounding villages. You can also connect from larger stations further afield.

Knighton is the only town that sits directly on Offa’s Dyke Path, making it a fantastic stop for anyone wanting to explore sections of the trail.
You can also use the train to hop between different walking spots, villages and market towns without needing to drive.
Things to Do Near Knighton Station
Once you arrive in Knighton, there is plenty to explore nearby.
You could wander around the little independent shops and cafes in town, visit the Offa’s Dyke Centre, enjoy riverside walks, or simply sit with a coffee and watch the world go by.
A little further afield, there are beautiful drives and walks in the surrounding hills, the nearby Radnor Forest, and fascinating places such as the Spaceguard Centre.
