A little while ago, I saw someone online talking about how AI can now write entire blogs in seconds. Seconds! Meanwhile, I’d just spent a full 45 minutes trying to find the right words to describe the exact shade of pink the sky turns at dusk (somewhere between a peach and a promise, in case you’re wondering).
I’ve noticed spring at Quabbs doesn’t arrive all at once. It sneaks in, quietly at first—a snowdrop here, a hint of warmth in the breeze there—until one day, you realise the hills are turning green again, and the birds are singing their hearts out at dawn. And just like that, winter’s grip loosens, and life on the farm shifts gears into something a little more… lively.
At Quabbs, our Zwartbles sheep aren’t just livestock—they’re part of the family. With their black wool, white blazes, and big personalities, they add charm to the hills and heart to the farm. There’s Rose, our wise matriarch; Lagatha, the fierce protector; Porky Pearl, always first to the feed bucket; Kitty, our biscuit-loving buddy; and Harmony, the gentlest soul. These striking Dutch ladies are known for being friendly and fabulous mums—but also a tad greedy! Life with them is noisy, warm, and wonderfully woolly. There’s something about Knighton that just feels right. Maybe it’s the way the town clings to the hillside like it’s been there forever (which, to be fair, it pretty much has). Maybe it’s the sense of history and adventure, woven into its winding streets and ancient paths. Or maybe it’s just the fact that it has a properly good selection of pubs, which is always a plus in my book.
